Prototype · pre-seed pitch 2026

The empty seat on your commute is the smartest ride in the city.

Pair My Ride is a commute-pooling platform that matches daily office commuters with verified drivers already heading the same way, at a fair, surge-free price. Our working prototype is ready to demo.

The problem

Urban India commutes alone, and pays heavily for it.

Every weekday, office corridors like Koramangala to Electronic City fill with single-occupancy vehicles on identical routes, while commuters without a car pay surge prices for the same trip.

Millions of empty seats

Most office-bound cars and bikes carry just the driver: the same road, the same hour, every weekday.

Commuting eats salaries

Cab fares surge exactly at rush hour. Solo driving means fuel, parking and wear, twice a day.

Informal carpools don't scale

WhatsApp groups and office notice boards have no verification, no fair pricing and no payment trail.

How it works

Four steps from “I need a ride” to “I'm at the office.”

01

Post your commute

Passengers save home and work once, then request a ride for today or set it to repeat every weekday.

02

Pilots offer seats

Verified drivers already making the trip publish their route, departure window and free seats.

03

We pair on the real road

Our engine compares actual road paths and time windows, then ranks the best pilots in seconds.

04

Ride, track, pay by UPI

Live ride status, SOS and ride codes on the trip. Fares settle instantly over UPI when you arrive.

Our edge

Matching on the road, not just the map pin.

Most carpool apps compare start and end points. We compare the pilot's actual driving path with the passenger's trip, so a colleague 6 km away on the same highway becomes a perfect match.

  • PostGIS spatial search: 8 km endpoint radius plus a 4 km corridor along the route
  • Self-hosted OSRM road routing for real distances and polylines
  • Weighted score across route overlap, time overlap, detour and driver trust
  • Reverse matching: new pilots instantly pick up waiting passengers

Designed to scale

A prototype architected like a real product.

Our prototype already runs on a modular monolith on Bun and PostgreSQL/PostGIS, with matching, notifications and expiry as independent BullMQ workers. When we launch, the API and the matching engine can scale separately as demand spikes at 9 AM.

Our pricing model

An efficient fare: cost-sharing, not surge.

The pilot is already making the trip, so the fare only needs to share its cost. Riders pay a fixed per-km price by vehicle class, the pilot keeps 97%, and we take a thin 3%. There's no fleet to fund, so we don't need to charge more.

Example · 15 km sedan / suv commute
Base fare₹20.00
15 km × ₹6 / km₹90.00
Peak-hour surge₹0.00
Rider pays₹110.00
Pilot keeps (97%)
₹106.70
Platform (3%)
₹3.30

Rates are the ones implemented in our prototype backend. Final launch pricing will be validated with real commuters in our pilot corridor.

01
Cost-sharing, not profit-driving

Pilots are already making the trip. The fare helps them recover fuel and running costs, so riders pay far less than a dedicated cab.

02
No surge, ever

The fare depends only on distance and vehicle class. The 9 AM commute costs exactly the same as a noon trip.

03
Fair by vehicle class

Bikes, autos, hatchbacks, sedans and vans each have their own base, per-km rate and minimum fare.

04
A thin 3% platform fee

The pilot keeps 97% of every fare. There is no fleet to fund and no driver incentives to pay, so we don't need a high take rate.

05
Transparent before you ride

The rider sees the exact fare on the match card before accepting. No meters, no haggling, no surprises.

06
Exact to the paisa

Fares and splits are computed in integer paise on the server, and settled instantly over UPI.

Where we are

A working prototype, ready to demo.

We're pre-launch and bootstrapped, with no outside investors yet. Instead of slides alone, we built the core product end to end so you can see the idea working.

10
database migrations

The prototype covers OTP login, home/work onboarding, pilot KYC with vehicle documents, ride requests, route-aware matching, ride tracking with SOS, cancellations with reasons, UPI payments (test mode) and an in-app notification inbox. It hasn't launched to the public yet, so there are no users, rides or revenue to date.

Help us fill every empty seat on India's commute.

We're looking for our first investors: people who believe shared, trusted, everyday mobility is the next layer of urban infrastructure, and who want to help take this prototype to launch.
